We just returned from a 3 week roundtrip through Ghana, and we felt at home as from the moment we arrived. Isaac and Ben gave us a warm welcome and we immediately felt good in our “extended” family. We were always treated with consideration, thoughtfulness, helpfulness, patience, and kindness.

Isaac has valuable insight and knowledge of the culture and history of Ghana. Every time he said “ago” we were eager to listen to a new story, some new facts, or one of his jokes. Due to his knowledge about African traditions and believes, his passion for people, his flexibility and ability to understand perfectly what people expect, he is the perfect guide.

Ben is an excellent, reliable and careful driver. We felt very safe at all times, even if the road conditions were not optimal, or when traffic was hectic. It is really amazing seeing someone enjoying his job that much !

Ben, Isaac , we will never forget this wonderful experience with our extended family in Ghana ! We hope we’ll meet again one day !

Jolinaiko!! Thanks!!

From the time I arrived at the airport, I felt at home. Ghanaian culture is so warm, and you helped me feel that to the greatest extent. Petra, thank you for matching me with Wisdom. His thoughtful demeanor and happiness to answer all my questions made him a perfect guide for my tour of Ghana.

Being a teacher and a constant learner, I asked him so many questions. He did not only answer them, but expanded upon ideas that I was just beginning to understand-ideas about culture, economy, geography, and religion. I can’t say enough thanks.

The array of different experiences was also amazing. The Green House at Karimenga was so great for me and listening to Ibrahim about the village and the sustainable improvements he is guiding was truly inspiring. Westerners can learn so much from him. The Black Star Square, Kente weaving in Adawomase, the Kejetia market, Mole NP and the Cape Coast Castle are all can’t-miss opportunities. What an amazing journey. I wouldn’t change anything!

You have two possibilities, what you can do with your time: you can listen to all bad news about western africa or you can order a trip by Cindy through Ghana, Togo and Benin. We went there in November 2014 and had a great time. Our driver Agoro was also our guide and last not least our friend. It seems, he know every second Togolese, so we often got a warm welcome. The hotels and the restaurants were a good choise and we also recommend the pineapple lodge. After this we had a better understanding for the local people. We did all the „forbidden“ things like eating and drinking with the local or walking alone through the villages with my camera. And what happened? We meet only very friendly people. Often we were alone in a hotel or restaurant, they all were missing the tourists. Even in Mole NP we could use our normal jeep and another tourist jeep were only half for the evening tour. The rangers told us, that they in normal times need five or six jeeps, so you can imagine, how empty it was everywhere.
And a special hint against expensive malaria pills – the togolese people know a tree, which leaves are a perfect medicine against malaria. You need only a cup of tea a week and nothing could happen. The tree has a helpful antiplasmodial substance.
Another hint for travellers through more than one country: order all visas in advance in your home country. You can save a lot of time on the borders.
We had a save journey and saw a lot and learned a lot and sometimes we spontaous cancelled a visit to have more spare time. During your planning never forget, it is vacation in a tropical country and the locals make also a long break at high noon – you need it, too.

Ditderful trip thanks to Isaac and Ben. Ben is a very careful, safe and reliable driver in less than ideal road conditions. Isaac is an excellent, responsible and professional guide. From the beginning, he treated us like family and always looked after our best interests and comfort. We were always treated with consideration, thoughtfulness, helpfulness, patience, and kindness and he went above and beyond duty in one particular situation. We are glad we had the opportunity to visit Benin's sites of interest - especially Ouidah and Ganvier which were terrific. Our stays at the villages were a very fascinating learning experience. Friendliness abounded there. Isaac has valuable insight and knowledge of the culture and did a great job educating us. I felt like I learned so much about West African culture! They were always friendly, prompt, careful and flexible in plans. Isaac communicated clearly and honestly and we trusted him. They both worked hard to make sure we got the most from our trip. We graciously appreciate all their efforts and will cherish these once in a lifetime memories. Highly recommended!

We will advise everyone to book with you. We had a fabulous trip with Ben. And...I like Mole park the most.
I also liked I could call Cindy on our trip when we had questions and we can speak then our own language dutch.
Thank you for this unforgettable journey. I shall dream a lot of this trip, I liked it very much. And lot of hugs for Ben our driver. He is a very good one. He can drive very well, and is constant looking to the other drivers. I felt really save in his can. And that is not with all the drivers in Ghana. The taxidriver we had.....I was really scared in the car. So go on and good luck!!

My sister and I and a longtime friend recently completed a Jolinaiko Tour through Ghana, Togo and Benin. Learning more about the slave trade, colonialism and the strong cultural traditions of today's West Africa is a transformative experience. Our guide Boris is well informed, thoughtful and helped us learn so much more than we could have anticipated. Despite bumpy roads, our driver Ben navigated with certainty and good humor. I would highly recommend Jolinaiko Eco Tours to anyone traveling to West Africa.

We had two weeks in Ghana, Togo and Benin. Extraordinary, beautiful, amazing trip! And our tour guide, Boris, was wonderful, so well informed, and took great care of us. Our driver, Ben, was also excellent and navigated the sometimes bumpy roads with ease. If you are thinking of going to Ghana, go with Jolinaiko Tours! Highly recommended.

We were planning to visit Ghana and were fortunate enough to come across the Jolinaiko Ecotours Internet page. We appreciated the 'area of interest' section of the contact form very much. Thus and with the always friendly and competent help of Cindy we were able to put together a trip that suited our interests best. Isaac, our guide, was very competent, always friendly and eager to give us all the information to better understand his country and its open and welcoming people. We also were very lucky to have Kauwawa as our driver. He was the first person we met in Ghana and we appreciated his friendly way as well as his calm and responsible way to drive very much. So we had a wonderful two weeks trip in Ghana that we shall never forget. Thousand thanks to the stuff of Jolinaiko Ecotours!

Trying to arrange transportation in Ghana over the internet can be very daunting! However, Jolinaiko made it very easy and they sure delivered! Our driver Wisdom was the best! You really need a savvy driver to find your way thru the horrible tieups even on the main roads. Due to Wisdom's efforts, we were able to maintain our ambtious schedule which included a visit to our son's Peace Corp site in one of the most remote regions of Ghana. Thank you Jolinaiko (especially Wisdom) for making this happen!

Sincerely,
Ralph & Sandra Wolf

I originally thought I could plan a two-week Ghana tour myself. However, the more research I did, the more I realized I needed some expert advice, particularly on where to stay and what to see, if I were going to make the most of my visit.

I was so fortunate to find Jolinaiko Eco Tours!

Their website's initial contact form includes an 'areas of interest' section, which I really appreciated. I was able to inform them of my interests immediately and ensure that my trip was truly tailored to my needs and preferences. During the planning process, Cindy and I communicated regularly by email to fine-tune the details. Cindy was always prompt, thorough, and friendly with her replies to my many questions. The accommodation Cindy arranged for me was varied and reasonably priced. Her sightseeing plans balanced new experiences with time for relaxation and reflection.

TT Mensah, my driver and guide, met me in Sunyani July 6, 2011 and from there we toured the country, from Mole National Park, Nkoranza, Lake Bosumtwi, Ho, Atimkopu, the Cape Coast area, and finally Accra before my flight home July 20.

I have high praise for TT. He is the best! TT became a friend as much as a guide and his conversations with me taught me so much about Ghana's history and culture. I wanted to get some understanding of the Ghanaian mind-set and he answered every one of my questions in detail, often adding examples from his and family's life. He was always on the lookout for opportunities for me to experience the real Ghana. Thanks to TT, I learned so much, right down to how bananas and ground nuts make a quick and delicious lunch, and how plantain chips make a great snack when you're on the road! TT always ensured that I was comfortable and safe and I appreciated his attention to every detail of my trip.

Many thanks to Jolinaiko Eco Tours for making my first trip to Africa a truly unforgettable experience. And congratulations Cindy, Apollo, and Senam on the birth of your beautiful baby Dzifa Annabelle.

According to tourists who travelled with Jolinaiko and my own experiences working with them for 6 months I can say that Jolinaiko is not merely a business but an organization who put all their effort and more importantly their heart in providing the best for both tourist and locals. This compassion for their region and its residents reflects in their tours, many tourists got inspired during their trip and speak about an astonishing, memorable experience.

The enthusiastic guides put your tour even into a higher level. They are all very committed to their job in accomplishing your wishes and provide you with the company and knowledge of your interest.

As a travel writer I had many specific sights and hotels I wanted to visit while traveling in Ghana. Jolinaiko was the perfect tour company for me, since I could take public transport, hire a car and get to see a range of hotels and sights along the way. I had researched my itinerary quite extensively, but found that Cindy had much better suggestions than I could have ever come up with based just on guide books and other traveler reports. Her insider knowledge was invaluable in planning our excellent ten day tour through Ghana. Isaac was my guide in Accra, we covered all the sights and more, enjoyed a soccer match at the Accra stadium, sweated in many tro-tros and weaved through markets and colorful neighborhoods. His knowledge is excellent, and he has such a pleasant personality it was just a pleasure to spend a few days with him. Francis was our driver and guide for the 7 day road trip to Elmina, Kumasi and Akisombo. His driving was superb, his company was a joy, and we did not want our days to end. We got to see live music in Kumasi, the amazing fish market in Elmina, tried fufu, banku and lots of other wonderful Ghanaian dishes along the way. Francis also took us to see a traditional healer something we would never have been able to experience without his help. And he introduced us to Hip-life, it became the soundtrack of our journey together! Our last morning was spent at Atsikpoe, where Jolinaiko has initiated several community projects and is the home of their eco-lodge. What a great way to end our trip, it is a real inspiration and we would highly recommend a stay here. We cannot thank you enough Jolinaiko team! Anouk and Gilly, (USA and France).

We appreciated so much Apollo’s candid conversations; his devotion and loyalty to West African culture was always evident. We are proud to have experienced every day with him—the historical sites, the religious places, the crafts, the gold mining, the palm wine making, our meeting the High Chief (King), night voodoo sacrifice, markets, …. We loved seeing the people—always moving, working, priding themselves on their appearance right down to each strand of hair so beautifully braided, happy and jovial, …. Our driver was excellent.

Of course, Cindy’s planning with our input was a huge success since it was over and beyond what Bev could devise from “normal” group tour itineraries, for example, one night staying in Possotomme rather than returning to a major city. We had never done the “pick-and-pay-but-not-book” hotels and “Pay-gas”, but we liked it! It was just like getting to book our own hotels, because Cindy let us choose each property—plus, her experience was a very helpful supplement to what our guidebooks and internet sites stated.

We speak from the experience of having traveled in 227 countries on Travelers Century Club’s list and 150 of the 195 nations on International Travel News’ list.

From June till August 2010 we have travelled with our 3 kids(5, 8 and 11 years old) through Ghana, Togo and Benin for 8 weeks. We stayed for 3 weeks in the traditional villages Gowrie, Karimenga and Sognaayilli in the northern part of Ghana (near Bolgatanga and Tamale). This was arranged via Meet Africa. The other 5 weeks we have travelled with Jolinaiko tours. The program was set up very well by Cindy and completely fullfilled our needs and wishes. It was a great, great experience to travel together with our guide Apollo, as well as for us as for the children. The numerous discussions and talks we had about the life in West Africa, the visits to the villages, markets and meetings with the local people and their traditions, the chats and laughs we had, the games we played makes it a once in a life time experience for all of us. Travelling by car with a guide and driver (in our case Evans and Nashirou) is to our opinion the most convenient way to cross these countries. It felt safe, in our case with the kids off course the most important aspect, we have visited places and regions you can't easily reach by public transport, we were flexible and we have seen and heard a lot of the country, the people and its habits. We left Ghana with the feeling that we have really experienced the life in West Africa! Apollo and Cindy, thank you very much!

We had a great trip from Mole park in the North back to the south, with driver Ben. It's very skilfull of the drive that he can drive so relaxed trough the very bussy and chaotic traffic of Ghana. We stayed in the wonderfull accomodations in the middle of the nature.
Thanks for the fantastic journey and the terrific organisation.

We had a fascinating time traveling with Apollo from Ghana to Benin. Please check-out my travel article on www.gonomad.com, entitled, "Benin and Togo: The Birthplace of Voodoo." Thanks, Apollo, for guiding us through public transport and giving us a sensational insight on the African culture, one that we would have never found on our own.

Best,
